Welcome to Mr. Holmberg’s Homepage!

Today is Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Thank you for visiting my homepage and welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at Oakridge Middle School!

The 8th grade Social Studies students are working in Unit Four of our curriculum: "Expansion and Reform". This unit begins with Chapter 11, titled "North and South Take Different Paths". This chapter focuses on the Industrial Revolution in the Northern U.S. in the early 1800's and its effects on the urban areas.  Chapter 12, titled "An Age of Reform", introduces students to the efforts to improve our country through education and prison reform, as well as ending alcohol abuse and the abolishment of slavery.  Chapter 13 - "Westward Expansion" - explains the idea of Manifest Destiny and Americans' desire to stretch the country from Atlantic to Pacific Oceans.

Please join me in welcoming my student teacher this semester, Ms. Autumn Vitkus.  Ms. Vitkus grew up in Whitehall and is currently completing her student teaching through Central Michigan University.  She will be with us through mid-May and is extremely excited to be part of the Oakridge family.

Thank you to all the parents who met with me at parent / teacher conferences.  I enjoyed meeting you and discussing the progress of your child in my class.

Please refer to this page often throughout the school year, as I use it as a means to communicate to both parents and students about both important information and the topics and we'll be covering in my 8th grade Social Studies classes.

As always, please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.
