Thank you for visiting my homepage and welcome to (what is left of) the 2012-2013 school year at Oakridge Middle School!
It's hard to believe that we're past the Memorial Day holiday and have begun the "home stretch" of another school year. I've really enjoyed teaching this year's group of 8th graders and am very excited about these final weeks of the school year. I want to personally say "Thank You" to all the parents who have supported us this past school year as we work together to provide a quality education to your children.
The 8th grade Social Studies students are now working on our "final exam" for the school year: our "Virtuous American" project. This project wraps up our school year by allowing the students to choose and research a "virtuous" individual during the time period that we've studied - a person having or displaying high moral standards. Students will then use PhotoStory 3 to create a presentation that will be displayed for their classmates to view. My experience has been this to be an enjoyable assignment - and a great learning opportunity - for the students.
Please refer to this page often throughout the school year, as I use it as a means to communicate to both parents and students about both important information and the topics and we'll be covering in my 8th grade Social Studies classes.
