   Hello and welcome to Second Grade. I look forward to a great year of learning, growth and memories. I thank you for sharing your child with me this school year. This is a responsibility and joy I take very seriously and look forward to working together  with you this year.

My name is Michelle DeWeerd and I am a Second Grade teacher at Oakridge Lower Elementary. I have been with the Oakridge School District since my graduation from Grand Valley State University in 1990. I started as a special education teacher for the first seven years of my career, and then moved to the Second Grade, and have been there ever since. I am very fortunate to love my job and the community I serve.

I have been married since 1991 to my best friend and husband Kirk, and we have been blessed with two wonderful children, Lindsay and Aaron. Lindsay is a junior at GVSU and Aaron is a sophomore at Allendale High School.
