In developing the program, the company was looking for a few outstanding districts that are searching for innovative ways to help their students succeed. Through the active leadership of future-thinking school boards and superintendents, the teachers in these districts are truly making a difference in the lives of their students and accelerating learning in all subjects. These beacons of education—“Lighthouse Districts” as they like to refer to them—are fertile ground for the development of new and more effective educational tools.
The program will be a mutually beneficial partnership between the school district and Renaissance Learning™. With the cooperation of the district, the company will help transform Oakridge into a Lighthouse District, which will be a model for other districts from around the nation to emulate. The company would hold focus groups within the district, using the information obtained to develop new software and products. They would also base research projects in these schools and test training programs to make them better for teachers everywhere. Administrators and staff from other districts would be brought in so they could observe, firsthand, the company’s software and best practices of their use.
In turn, the district would benefit greatly from this partnership. The Oakridge Lighthouse District would be among the first to use the cutting-edge educational software and hardware developed by Renaissance Learning™. The school would be provided with a staff dedicated to working with its’ teachers and principals to help ensure the district’s success, and the media would focus on the exemplary district as Renaissance Learning™ gives public credit to Oakridge for its’ assistance. |
